Two killed, two wounded in violence-plagued Pattani

PATTANI, Jan 14 (TNA) – A couple was shot dead, and a man and his daughter were wounded in two separate motorcycle-related shooting attacks Thursday morning in the southern border province of Pattani.

The couple, identified as Amnart and Sudaporm Limdamrong, was killed by gunmen on two motorcycles while they rode to work on a motorcycle.

The attackers sprayed bullets at them and they were shot several times in heads and torsos. Their bodies were set on fire by attackers.

In another apparent incident of insurgent violence, a father and his 11-year-old daughter were shot and wounded while the victim was driving his motorcycle to work, planning to drop his daughter at school.

Witnesses said that two teenagers on a motorcycle followed them and fired at them before fleeing. The victims were taken to hospital. Police believe that the shooting was the work of presumed insurgents.

More than 3,700 people have been killed in the three southern border provinces and four districts of nearby Songkhla since the insurgency erupted in 2004. (TNA)
