Minutes of the 57th OANA Executive Board Meeting

57th OANA EBM

Moderator:

Mr. Marat Abulkhatin - TASS Deputy Director General, OANA Secretary General. 

OANA Secretary General opened the meeting, acknowledging Xinhua's contribution and the venue, Boao city: "I would like to express special gratitude for the excellent work in organizing this event. Your efforts and preparations deserve high praise."

OANA Secretary General presented the organization's work plan for the next year, 2026. In addition to holding the 58th and 59th Executive Board meetings, the OANA Presidium plans to organize a special celebratory event - the 65th anniversary of OANA. This initiative was highly appreciated by those present.

Members of the Technical and Ethical Committees

The Executive Board considered the matter of filling the Technical and Ethical Committees. The following candidates were proposed:

Technical Committee: Oman News Agency (serving member), TV and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan), National News Agency (Lebanon), Mehr News Agency (Iran), PTI (India).

Ethical Committee: Associated Press of Pakistan (serving member), Saudi Press Agency (Saudi Arabia), Philippines News Agency (Philippines).

The proposed composition of the committees was approved unanimously.

Candidacy for the 13th Member of the Executive Board

The Executive Board considered the appeal from the Mongolian National News Agency MONTSAME requesting its inclusion in the Committee.

MONTSAME's candidacy was supported unanimously and approved as the 13th member of the Executive Board.

Memorandum of Understanding with the Boao Entrepreneurs Forum

Mr. Andrey Kondrashov presented the main provisions of the memorandum, including:

Article 1

Article 1 emphasizes the aspiration of the two parties to make joint efforts for the development of economy, trade, and culture in the Asia-Pacific region.

Article 2

Article 2 emphasizes the commitment to the principles of equality and mutual trust within the framework of the parties' cooperation.

Article 3

Article 3 states that both parties are ready to support each other, participate in each other's events, and assist in holding forums and events.

Articles 4 and 5

Articles 4 and 5 specify the terms of the Memorandum's validity, including provisions on confidentiality and intellectual property.

The Executive Board discussed and unanimously approved the main provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between OANA and the Boao Entrepreneurs Forum.

Joint Statement on the Safety of Journalists

The Executive Board reviewed and approved the text of a joint statement calling for the protection of journalists working in conflict zones.

The statement was approved unanimously.

Venue for the 58th Executive Board Meeting

The Qatar News Agency (QNA) proposed hosting the 58th OANA Executive Board Meeting in Qatar in June 2026.

This proposal was supported unanimously.

Venue for the 59th Executive Board Meeting.

Vietnam News Agency expressed its willingness to host the 59th Executive Board Meeting in the second half of next year.

VNA, upon receiving official state-level approval, will reconfirm its intention to host the Executive Board Meeting.

The meeting concluded with an address by the OANA President to the participants, in which OANA Secretary General thanked colleagues for their productive work.

X
