IR to launch 2-year training program for CSOs in Yemen

SANA'A, Jan. 13 (Saba) - Islamic Relief (IR) in Yemen is to launch next Saturday a two-year series of training courses for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

The courses conducted by IR and funded by European Commission (EC) and IR aim to
improve the capacity of local CSOs, according to a press release issued by IR.
The first training course will be launched next Saturday, on 16 - 21 January, in
Sana'a. Later in 2010, further training courses will also be rolled out to benefit
organizations
in Hodeidah, Taiz, Aden, Hadramout, Lahj and Abyan governorates, the press release
said.
"This training is a part of a two-year project" IR Country director Khalid al-Mulad
said, adding that the first six training courses would be benefit about 25
Sana'a-based
CSOs.
Al-Mulad said that IR would continue work, after ending this first round, with the
organizations to ensure that the new skills are being applied.
The project aims to improve the quality, influence, impact and cohesiveness of CSOs
in Yemen, he said.

IR Yemen (IRY) has been in operation in Yemen since 1998. To Date, IRY has

support, child protection,
emergency response and conflict transformation and peace building.
