AZERBAIJAN, GERMANY DISCUSS BOOSTING LEGAL COOPERATION

Baku, January 13 (AzerTAc). Justice Minister of Azerbaijan Fikrat Mammadov met Wednesday visiting director of the German Foundation for International Legal Co-operation Matthias Weckerling. The talks focused on how to boost cooperation between the two countries` justice ministries.
Mammadov said friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and Germany were developing successfully.
The minister noted a declaration signed between the two countries`s justice ministries during his visit to Germany had created great opportunities for the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
For his part, Weckerling said his country places special emphasis on boosting relationship with Azerbaijan.
He said the purpose of his Foundation was to assist partner countries in carrying out legal reforms.
According to Weckerling, the Foundation supports the ongoing legal reforms in Azerbaijan to improve the justice system.
The sides also discussed other issues including ways of bringing legislation in line with European standards, training judicial candidates.
Weckerling also visited with the Heydar Aliyev Museum and Justice History Museum.
