YEMEN'S ACCESSION TO GSO OFFICIALLY APPROVED

RIYADH, Jan.13 (Saba) - Board of Directors of GCC Standardization
Organization (GSO) has approved Yemen's accession to the
organization officially as of January 1, 2010.

In a press release, Secretary-General of GSO, Dr. Anwar al-Abdullah
said:" The GSO's General-Secretariat is confident and optimistic
that Yemen's membership in the organization will support the process
of coordination, cooperation and complementarity among the member
states".

This would form a support to the rules of the GCC joint markets and
enhance the consumer protection in the area from deceived,
counterfeit and low-quality goods, so as to promote the level of
security, safety, health and clean environment, he made it clear.

Dr. al-Abdullah congratulated Yemen on its accession to the GSO and
welcomed Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya al-Mutawaklil and the
Yemeni Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control Organization
(YSMO) as active members in the GSO.
