Iran's intelligence minister to attend Majlis committee to report on Ashura incidents
TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (MNA) – MP Mohammad Karami-Rad has said that the intelligence minister will attend a meeting of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee to report about the incidents on the day of Ashura.
The minister will give a report about the Ashura incidents and the recent unrest in general, he told the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday.
On December 27, a day which fell on Ashura, protesters took to the streets in central Tehran and chanted slogans against top government officials. They clashed with the police and damaged public property.
Ashura is an occasion commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) in seventh century. Imam Hussein (AS) was the grandson of the Prophet Mohammad (S).
