Norman, Evert finalise divorce

Australian golf champion Greg Norman and wife of 18 months Chris Evert have made
their split official with a secret, quickie divorce filed in an out-of-the-way
Florida courthouse.
The couple claimed in a court document "the marriage is irretrievably broken".
It is Norman's second divorce in just over two years, but while his first ex-wife
Laura Andrassy received a $US103 million ($A110.61 million) payout, the latest did
not involve a carve-up of Norman or Evert's multi-million dollar sporting and
business empires.
Norman and Evert abided by a pre-nuptial agreement signed weeks before they married
in a high-security wedding in The Bahamas on June 28, 2008.
The Palm Beach Post newspaper, citing a source, reported "there was no exchange of
money between Norman and Evert" and the two would abide by the pre-nuptial. What
each brought financially to the marriage, each took back.
"The bonds of marriage between petitioner/husband, Greg Norman and respondent/wife,
Chris Evert, are dissolved, because the marriage is irretrievably broken and the
parties are restored to the status of being single," according to court documents.
"The couples stipulated that the prenuptial agreement between them, dated June 2,
2008, was executed voluntarily and is binding on them.
"The parties are ordered to comply with the agreement, including the confidentiality
provision thereof."
Norman and Evert made headlines on October 2 last year when they announced they had
split.
The paperwork for the divorce was filed in a courthouse in the Florida Keys, the
southernmost point in the US.
The Post reported Norman and his divorce lawyer Jeff Fisher, who also handled the
Andrassy divorce, flew to Florida Keys on December 8 where the divorce was made
official. Evert was not present.
The filing came at the height of the Tiger Woods sex scandal, raising speculation
the timing and location was aimed at avoiding media attention.
It was Evert's third failed marriage.
The tennis champion split from Olympic snow skier Andy Mill in December 2006 after
reports she had hooked up with Norman.
Evert divorced British tennis player John Lloyd in 1987.
Norman was married to former flight attendant Andrassy for 25 years and their
divorce battle raged in the Florida court system for almost two years before they
agreed to a carve-up of their estimated $US500 million ($A536.94 million) fortune.
Andrassy's $US103 million ($A110.61 million) settlement included a $US50 million
($A53.69 million) one-off payment, $US500,000 ($A536,941) in jewellery, a Range
Rover vehicle and personal items, such as four paintings of dogs and Christmas
decorations.
The divorce deal also guaranteed the couple's adult children, Morgan-Leigh and
Gregory, would receive Norman's prized gold trophies and $US103 million ($A110.61
million) in cash when he died.
