EASTERN PARTNERSHIP SUMMIT TO TAKE PLACE NEXT YEAR
Baku, 12 January (AzerTAc). Foreign Minister of Poland Radoslaw Sikorski announced the staging of an Eastern Partnership summit in 2011 when Hungary followed by Poland will take over the presidency of the EU, Polish media reports.
The minister, speaking after a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Balazs in Budapest, recalled that during first Eastern Partnership summit in 2009 partners agreed that Hungary will chair the next summit while Poland will host a ministerial-level meeting.
Referring to the question of achieving the state of visa-free traffic with countries taking part in the Eastern partnership programme, Sikorski said that if it was for Poland and Hungary to decide progress in this respect would be much quicker. However, Sikorski said the problem lies in some west European countries, but, the minister added: “I am receiving signals that there might be a positive move in the nearest weeks and the will gain momentum.”
