AZERBAIJAN, RUSSIA: GAS COOPERATION TO CONTINUE ‘SUCCESSFULLY’
Baku, 12 January (AzerTAc). “We have laid a solid foundation for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, that will continue successfully for long years,” Aleksey Miller, deputy chairman of the Gazprom OAO Board of Directors, said.
He noted “the beginning of the current year was marked by an important event, so, Gasprom, for the first time, started buying gas from Azerbaijan.”
“We conducted very constructive negotiations with our Azerbaijani counterparts, and a few months later achieved an agreement, according to which gas entered our system,” Miller underlined. He added “we had no doubt about success in achieving the agreement.”
Miller pointed out Gasprom put forward competitive conditions for buying gas from Azerbaijan, “because we have all favorable opportunities: a shared border and transport infrastructure”.
According to him, “one of the most important points of our agreement is that we have not to set a maximum volume limit, so we will buy as much gas as the Azerbaijani side can provide.” He added “Gasprom`s other agreements does not include such a point, and this shows that our partnership is at high level”.
