Finance Ministry to issue fiscal measures to maintain economic stability

BANGKOK, Jan 12 (TNA) – Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij on Monday revealed the Finance Ministry is set to come up with fiscal measures to maintain the stability of the economy this year.

Last year, he said, the ministry had issued various measures to help the public and the private sector as part of its plan to revitalise the country’s economy.

Now, it is time to take the fiscal measures to ensure the economic stability.

The ministry will consider boosting economic growth by implementing the Thai Khem Keng (Strong Thailand) Scheme, budget spending, and close assistance to the business sector by state banks.

Monetary and fiscal restructuring will be implemented to ensure that the economy enjoys sustainable growth, he said.

Commenting on Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva’s intention to terminate the contracted online two- and three-digit lottery, he said the working committee led by Thai Trade Representative Kiati Sitthi-amorn was studying and finding a legal means to lift it.

Should the lottery be terminated, he said, the government must find a way to help all groups of people affected by the move. (TNA)
