Fertiliser factory to help stabilise prices
HCM City (VNA) – The operation of Ca Mau Nitrogenous Fertiliser factory will help
stabilise prices in the domestic market, said chairman of management board of
PetroVietnam Dinh La Thang at the meeting held last week.
When the 800,000 tonne capacity factory starts operation in 2012, it and another
factory of Petro Vietnam (PVN), Phu My Fertiliser, will provide 70 percent of all
fertiliser for the domestic market.
Thang said the Ca Mau factory would provide farmers with good-quality fertiliser at
reasonable prices.
The location of the Ca Mau factory should reduce transport costs and increase
profits as the Mekong Delta region is the granary of the country.
Thang said PetroVietnam Fertiliser and Chemicals Corporation planned to export
fertiliser to neighbouring countries, including Cambodia .
Last year, the Phu My factory produced 755,000 tonnes of fertiliser, 102 percent of
its planned output, meeting 40 percent of the domestic market, said Phung Dinh Thuc,
general director of PetroVietnam.
Previously fertiliser prices fluctuated frequently due to heavily reliance on
imports.-Enditem
