Iran's 1st VP meets Syrian minister

Tehran, Jan 10, IRNA – Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Hosni Lutfi conferred with Iran's First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi here Saturday.

According to the Presidential Office website, Rahimi, in the meeting, called Iran-Syria ties friendly and brotherly and said that mutual relations benefit both nations as well as all nations of the region.

He added that Tehran-Damascus ties are sustainable, adding that there is no obstacle in the way of strengthening relations and Iran is ready to expand its cooperation with Syria in all fields.

Establishment of joint Iran-Syria Bank has an important role in economic transactions between the two countries and Iran will finalize it in his upcoming visit to Syria, the VP said.

By underlining the importance of creation of unity among four countries of Iran, Syria, Turkey and Iraq, Rahimi said that friendship between these four countries will benefit peace and security in the region of the Middle East.

Amer Hosni Lutfi, for his part, said that in spite of regional changes in the recent years, ties between Iran and Syria have always been firm and that Syria considers its ties with Iran very important.

He also declared that constitution of the joint bank has been compiled and expressed hope that by considering the world developments, the two countries can take big steps toward interests of both nations./end
