Indian Muslims' conditions, affect Tehran-New Delhi ties
New Delhi, Jan 10, IRNA – Iran's ambassador to India in a seminar dubbed "Iran-India studies" here on Saturday said that Muslims' conditions in India has a role in ties between the two countries.
Seyed Mehdi Nabizadeh, by referring to the old relations between the two civilizations, said in order to confront threats and to use opportunities in mutual relations, the two countries should consider each others' viewpoints.
He added India can see Iran with a number of characters including; Iran as a regional power in west Asia, a country with rich oil and gas resources, a big military power in the Persian Gulf region, a Muslim and Shia country, a country which consider the US as its enemy, and a country with a foreign policy upon idealism.
Iran views India as a country which is part of oriental countries, because of this and owning a Muslim population it has a lot of commonalities with Iran, a part of third world countries, a member of Non-Aligned Movement, deep cultural ties with Iran, having second large population of Muslims in the world all of which are important for Iran.
The ambassador added that both countries are against unilateralism, both oppose bi-polarism in the world, both have the same view in fight against terrorism and drugs.
Nabizadeh also said that Iran and India are two powerful and effective countries in the region and each of them has special characters which should be studied and considered and that these characters would affect regional and international relations.
He added, undoubtedly, in the next decade both India and Iran will have important positions in the international system./end
