New Delhi, Jan 9, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran will be the “Guest Country” in Jaipur’s upcoming 2nd International Film Festival (JIFF).
The event will begin from January 29, 2010, and will screen movies from at least 40 countries this time.
Out of the 310 entries received from across the world, the festival preview committee has short-listed 94 movies to be screened in the three days of the festival.
Iran is the Guest country this year.
Apart from Indian films, JIFF-2010 has received entries from 41 countries including Great Britain, United States, France, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Liberia, Srilanka, Israel, Brazil, China, Australia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
"The festival will be attended by a number of film makers, artists and societies. Of the selected movies, Indian panorama would contribute 49 movies and the rest will be from foreign countries," PTI reported quoting Hanu Roj, the founder and planner of the JIFF, as said at a press conference at Jaipur Friday.
A special category for filmmakers of Rajasthan has also been kept in which 10 films would be screened.
"All selected films have been submitted to the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry for clearance and likely to be okayed by this weekend," said Roj.
"A three-member jury comprising of two Indian and one foreign filmmaker would judge the films to be shown in the competitive section," said Roj.
The awards would be given out in categories of Best Short Film, Best Documentary Film, Critic Award, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Sound Track, Best Script and Best Cinematography./end
