TURKMENISTAN KEEN ON NABUCCO
Baku, 8 January (AzerTAc). Turkmenistan’s energy policy seeks to diversify regional energy arteries. Thereupon Turkmenistan has a concern in major energy projects including the Nabucco, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan Annamamed Mamedov said at a briefing today.
According to the Ambassador, several projects have been already realized including the second line of Turkmenistan - Iran gas pipeline, which was commissioned on January 6. The ceremony was attended by the Presidents of Iran and Turkmenistan.
In mid-December 2009, leaders of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China inaugurated a 1,833 km long, Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline (so called “Gas Pipeline of the Century”) known also as the Central Asia–China gas pipeline. The pipeline is planned to pump about 40 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas to China annually.
Up to now, Turkmen geologists have discovered one thousand oil and gas fields at the territory of Turkmenistan. According to research, the South Yolotan-Osman deposit in the south-east of the country contains 14 tcm of gas at the high estimate that would make this field the fourth richest gas deposit of the world.
