APPEAL ISSUED TO HELP HERDERS


Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The State Emergency Commission issued Friday an appeal addressing Mongolia's people and international organizations to help herder community in overcoming the winter difficulties.
"About 80 percent of Mongolia's territory has been covered with thick snow, 198 soums of 19 provinces have been suffering the zud--extremely cold weather. The average air temperature drops down to -32-40 C degree below zero which is pushing the country to the disaster and phenomena level. The Government of Mongolia and the State Emergency Commission are taking all urgent measures, but wintering is worsening. Thousands of animals have died and herders are getting too weak unable to face natural invincible factor losing their health and sources for livestock," says the appeal.
"The SEC is asking all people, entities, companies, public organizations and international organizations operating in Mongolia to help herder community".
