Japan to Assist Indonesia Infrastructure Development

Tokyo, Jan. 8 (Jiji Press)--Japan plans to assist infrastructure
development in Indonesia as part of a broader effort to promote economic
development in Asia, officials said.
Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Masayuki Naoshima is scheduled
to visit the Southeast Asian country next week to discuss details.
Japan plans to help Indonesia develop ports, freight rail networks
and roads.
In addition, Tokyo is considering providing low-pollution
electricity generation technology to help Indonesia reduce carbon dioxide
emissions.
Japan has so far provided support to India and the Mekong region
under the initiative aimed at supporting infrastructure and industrial
development in Asia.
