WILL STATE-OWNED ENTITIES IN MINING AND ENERGY BE PRIVATIZED?

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Premier S.Batbold has presented a draft parliament resolution on Privatization Guidelines of State Property for 2010-2012 to parliamentary Speaker D.Demberel.
"The draft resolution has been drawn up with the aim of supporting in ensuring rapid economic growth of private sector, decreasing state participation in economy, increasing people's attendance in business and improving functions of state-owned companies. Auction will be used as usual to privatize state properties. Key factor of promoting the country's economy is the capital market. Therefore, we intend to apply it as a main tool and mechanism," Prime Minister Batbold said.
According to the draft guidelines, some state-owned companies, operating in mining, energy and infrastructure, will be privatized in 2010-2012. At the same trime, the privatization will not cover state properties of health and education sectors.
"Considerable achievement and progress will be made to ensure objectives raised in creating appropriate partnership system between the state and private sector, improving competitive capacity of companies through attracting domestic and foreign investment and increasing private sector's participation in economy thanks to an approval of this draft parliament resolution," Mr Batbold underlined.
