Iranian document to go on display at S. Korean exhibit
TEHRAN, Jan. 7 (MNA) -- Iran’s Endowment Deed of Rab-e Rashidi will go on display at the International Archival Culture Exhibition 2010.
The document, which belongs to the Tabriz Central Library in East Azerbaijan Province, will participate at the event to be held in Seoul from June 6 to 10, the library director Hassan Khodaei mentioned in a press conference.
The exhibit is organized by the National Archives of Korea, which is covering the shipping and insurance expenses for the document, he mentioned.
Added to UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register list in 2009, the Endowment Deed was prepared by Khajeh Rashid ad-Din Fazlollah Hamedani, who was the chancellor of Mahmud Ghazan (1271-1304), the most renowned king of the Mongol Ilkhanid dynasty that ruled Iran at that time.
He was also a brilliant physician and mathematician, who established an academic center known as the Rab-e Rashidi on the outskirts of Tabriz, a city located some 600 kilometers northwest of Tehran.
The exhibit with the motto of “A World Re-discovered in Archives” will showcase about 120 selected items from 38 countries designated by UNESCO’s Memory of the World Program.
The showcase aims to emphasize the importance of records and archives by exhibiting selected treasures from UNESCO’s Memory of the World and Records Management Systems, and to promote archival industries by displaying cutting-edge records management technology from around the world.
