Iranian Foreign Ministry warns against illegal pilgrimage visit to Iraq

TEHRAN, Jan. 7 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Wednesday warned against illegal visits to Iraq by pilgrims.


Mehmanparast’s remarks came after Iraqi police had arrested a number of Iranian pilgrims who entered the country illegally.


Unfortunately, some Iranian pilgrims travel to Iraq through illegal channels and are arrested and then Tehran has to negotiate their release.


However, he said Iran is seriously pursuing the case of the newly-arrested nationals.
