PRESIDENT RECEIVES MONGOL BANK HEAD
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj met Wednesday L.Purevdorj, a president of the Mongol Bank, and gave him some tasks.
The Mongol Bank's head gave a report to the State Head on present situation of commercial banks in Mongolia, and answered questions put by the President. "Current situation of the commercial banks in Mongolia is getting better. Furthermore, it is likely to become healthy," said Purevdorj.
The State Head pointed out that the Mongol Bank had not been bearing until now a systematic and comprehensible policy or principle on urgent measures to be taken in case of bad situations in commercial banks. Mentioning that the Mongol Bank took measures towards two banks recently, Mr Elbegdorj said these steps were in general vague anmd thus confused the public.
"In cause an illness is the same, a treatment must be the same," Elbegdorj said and told the bank authorities to give explanations to the public at parliament.
The President emphasized that the banking sector urgently needs the accountability, and criticized the officials, who have obligations, for not taking responsibility or punishment. "Those group receives the profit when banks are well, and leave the losses to people when banks go from bad to worse," Elbegdorj stressed and underlined that a bankruptcy can not be a profitable business, and that the guilty ones must be punished in accordance with laws.
