Austereo appoints new CEO

Radio broadcaster and online business Austereo Group has appointed its content
director Guy Dobson to the helm and says its first half results will be "OK".
Mr Dobson has replaced Michael Anderson who has resigned as chief executive of the
owner of radio stations including Sydney's 2Day FM and Melbourne's Fox FM.
Mr Anderson advised last July that he would not renew his contract past June 30,
2010 but said he would step down earlier if a suitable replacement was appointed,
chairman Peter Harvie told AAP on Wednesday.
Mr Harvie said Mr Dobson's appointment was effective immediately.
Mr Anderson will provide consulting services to Austereo until the end of June, with
a focus on sales, but was not aware of his plans thereafter.
Mr Anderson was appointed to Austereo's board in 1996 after joining the group in 1989.
Mr Harvie said Mr Dobson had not revealed any immediate plans to introduce changes
to the business, but would "review the situation".
"He will have his own views and ideas for the business, which is in good shape."
Mr Dobson first joined the group in 1987 before leaving for three years to manage
broadcasting consultancy ESP. He returned to Austereo in 2005.
"He is an excellent strategist with strong creative and business skills," Mr Harvie
said in a statement on Wednesday.
"He will lead a well-proven management team."
Austereo said Mr Dobson's contract arrangements and salary package were "in line
with those of his predecessor".
Mr Harvie said he expected the company's December half results would be "OK".
"It hasn't been raining gold bullion but at the same time, we've come through in OK
shape ... for what has been a rather traumatic year for the economy and the media,"
he said.
"We have said earlier that we believed the year for the total radio industry would
be minus five per cent but we readjusted that down to minus three per cent or better
for the December half."
Shares in Austereo had inched one cent higher to $1.67 at 1532 AEDT on Wednesday.
