Teen pleads for info about mum`s murder

The daughter of a woman who was tied up and bludgeoned to death with a hammer has
pleaded for help to find her mother's killer.
Christine Erceg, a 41-year-old mother-of-three, was found brutally bashed at her
house on Albany Highway in the southern Perth suburb of Mt Nasura about 1.30pm (WST)
on Sunday.
Repeatedly struck with a claw hammer to her head and body for up to 10 minutes, she
died on Tuesday from injuries described by police as similar to that of a car crash
victim, rather than an attack.
Her daughter Tanika Erceg spoke to the media on Wednesday, appealing for any
information as to who had murdered her mother.
The 18-year-old, who now has a tattoo of her mother's name and the date of her death
on her wrist, said whoever attacked her mother was heartless.
"My brother, sister and I lost our mother yesterday because of some heartless people
who murdered her," Ms Erceg said.
"We have all been asking ourselves what sort of people would do this?
"Did they know she had kids?
"What was going through their heads?
"What did she do to deserve all of this?
"Because no one deserves to go that way."
Ms Erceg and her siblings, a 14-year-old sister and 10-year-old brother, were
struggling to deal with their mother's murder, she said.
Recalling their last meeting, the teenager said there was no indication her mother
was anxious or worried.
She pleaded for public help and called for the attacker or attackers to turn
themselves in.
"Please, help us," she said.
"I'm going to be without a mum forever.
"No one is going to see me get married, have children, nothing - and the same with
my brother and sister.
"I'm just begging you to come out and help us."
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Fyfe, of Perth police, on Tuesday said the attack was
the most vicious he had investigated.
"I have not seen injuries like that on a person other than on a road trauma victim,"
he said.
He said two men of Caucasian appearance were believed to have been involved in the
attack.
There was no sign of forced entry to the home and forensic officers continued to
comb the scene of the attack on Tuesday.
