Golden Cashew Festival to be held in Dong Xoai township

Hanoi (VNA) – The first Golden Cashew Festival will be held in Dong Xoai township,
southern Binh Phuoc province, the country’s capital of cashew, from March 20-23.

The festival aims to promote cashew nut products and share experiences in applying
new technology in cashew cultivation and processing.
The festival will include nut cracking and cooking, competitions and trade fairs.

During the festival, representative of the Vietnamese government will present cashew
seedlings to the Cambodian and Lao governments.

In 2009, Vietnam, as one of the top world exporters of cashew nuts, exported
175,000 tonnes and earned 840 million USD, up 6 percent in volume but the value was
equal to only 92 percent of last year’s, according to the Ministry of Agriculture
and Rural Development.

In 2010, Vietnam 's cashew industry aims to join the country's “one billion
USD export items club” with export volume between 170,000 and 180,000
tonnes.-Enditem
