CEC HANDS OVER REPORT ON POLITICAL DIALOGUE TO PRESIDENT

DHAKA, Bangladesh, June 12 (BSS) - A delegation of the Election
Commission (EC) led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dr ATM
Shamsul Huda today called on President Professor Dr Iajuddin
Ahmed at Bangabhaban here today.

Election Commissioners Mohammad Sohul Hossain and Brigadier
General (retd) M Sakhwat Hossain were present.

During the meeting the EC delegation handed over the EC's
report on dialogue between the EC and political parties held
recently.

They also apprised the President of different aspects of the
dialogue and its outcome and the EC's preparation for holding
general election by December this year.

The President praised the EC's performance in preparing the
important report within very short time.

He also expressed hope that the EC could hold the national
election by December this year according to the road map
announced by the EC

Emerging out of the meeting, the CEC told the journalists
that they handed over to the President the report on recent
dialogue, the EC held with the country's political parties aimed
at reforming the election laws and holding the general elections
by December this year in a free, fair and credible manner.

He said that they told the President that EC is hopeful to
publish the final voter list with photographs by October this
year, as the 95 percent of the voters in the country have already
been enrolled.

He said the delegation also apprised the President of the
EC's preparation for holding the next general election by
December this year," he added.

Military Secretary to the President Lieutenant General Mohd
Aminul Karim, Secretary of the President's Office Md Sirajul
Islam and Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were also present.
