Three die in collision on Newell Hwy

Three people are dead after a head-on collision involving a semi-trailer on a rural
NSW highway.
Police say the semi, loaded with cattle feed, collided with a car on the Newell
Highway about 10km south of Narrandera, in the NSW Riverina district, about 9.50am
(AEDT) on Tuesday.
A child, a man and another adult travelling in the car were killed.
"The car was completely destroyed and emergency services are trying to determine the
exact number of occupants," police said in a statement.
Rural Fire Service personnel were called to the crash scene when fuel started to
leak from the semi-trailer.
The highway remains closed in both directions, causing major delays which are
expected to last for most of the day.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
