Police seek three men over ATM skimming
Police have released images of three men wanted in relation to a large scale ATM
skimming scam centred in Wollongong.
Since October last year, detectives from the Wollongong Local Area Command have
received more than 100 complaints about money being stolen from private bank
accounts.
Officers formed Strike Force Doon which established one or more skimming devices had
been attached to several automatic teller machines in the northern Wollongong area.
Detectives allegedly discovered large amounts of money had subsequently been stolen
from accounts accessed at other ATMs in Bankstown, Parramatta, Burwood, Chinatown
and Haymarket in Sydney.
Financial institutions have been alerted and the State Crime Command Fraud Squad has
also been advised.
Wollongong police on Tuesday released CCTV images of three men withdrawing money
from two teller machines in Burwood and one at Bankstown.
Anyone who recognises the men is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
