MONGOLIAN LIVESTOCK HEALTH TO BE RECOGNIZED AS FREE OF DISEASES



Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Mongolia intends to have the World Organization for Animal Health officially recognize Mongolian livestock as free of animal diseases.
President Ts.Elbegdorj delivered a letter to Bernard Vallat, director-general of the World Organization for Animal Health, in December 2009 requesting to send its experts to Mongolia to recognize and confirm the Mongolian livestock as such.
In response letter Mr Vallat said that the World Organization for Animal Health will send its best expert team to Mongolia to make efforts in ensuring that Mongolian veterinary meets international standards and requirements, makes healthy the animals, and in boosting the possibilities of exporting Mongolia's meat and meat products to international market.
Mongolia has a full capacity of exporting 100.000 tons of meat of small animals (sheep and goat) and 50.000 tons of meat of big animals (horse and cattle) per year.
