PACE RAPPORTEURS WELCOME PARDONING DECREE OF AZERBAIJANI PRESIDENT

Baku, 6 January (AzerTAc). Andres Herkel and Joseph Debono Grech, co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of Azerbaijan, and Christoph Strässer, rapporteur on the follow-up to the issue of political prisoners by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), have welcomed a recent pardoning decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The Azerbaijani leader signed an executive order on 25 December 2009 to pardon 99 prisoners.
