UN PROMPTS HOLDING CONFERENCE TO SUPPORT YEMEN COUNTERTERRORISM



NEW YORK, Jan. 05 (Saba) - The United Nations Secretary-General Ban
Ki-Moon announced on Tuesday supporting the British-call to host an
international conference to support Yemen's efforts in development
and fighting against terrorism later in January.

The UN Secretary-General Spokesman Martin Nesirky said that Moon has
discussed, in telephone conversation with UK Prime Minister Gordon
Brown, the current preparations for holding the conference in London
on January 28th.

The UN Secretary-General stated his support foe the conference,
valuing Brown's call in this regard, Nesirky said, adding that Moon
propped up the international efforts to support Yemen's development
and its efforts to combat terrorism as well.

On January 01m, Friday, the UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown called
for a meeting to address Yemen's economic, political and security
issues.

The UK's Premier office said that Britain would work along with
international partners to assist Yemen to face al-Qaeda.

The call for a meeting on January 28 has received applause from the
