Reducing ties with Britian, not on FM agenda: Iran

Tehran, Jan 5, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast said on Tuesday that the Foreign Ministry has no agenda on reducing the level of ties with Britain.

Talking to reporters during his weekly press briefing, he added that the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) has not ratified any bill on reducing relations with Britain.

He reiterated that the Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring the performance of the British government and will make appropriate decisions when needed.

As to a deadline for Iran regarding the country’s peaceful nuclear program, Mihman-Parast said Tehran agrees with the point of view of US Secretary of State Hillay Clinton with regards to the issue of deadline.

“We believe that putting any deadline by each side is meaningless and worthless,” he stressed.

Clinton said Monday evening, "We've avoided using the term deadline ourselves...because we want to keep the door to dialogue open."

Asked about a probable visit to Tehran of US Senator John Kerry, the spokesman said Tehran has not yet received any official request for the visit./end
