Enemy has launched internet war against Iran: official

TEHRAN, Jan. 3 (MNA) – Davoud Ahmadinejad, the Passive Defense Committee secretary, said the enemy has targeted Iranians’ interests by taking advantage of the World Wide Web with the intention of weakening national unity.

He made the remarks on Saturday during the second Passive Defense Conference held in Iran University of Science and Technology in Tehran.

“At this point in time messages are sent from one point to another one within seconds; this is a threat to the country,” Davoud Ahmadinejad, the brother of President Ahmadinejad, opined.

Inviting academics to cooperate in repelling the soft war waged by the enemies, he said if Iran wants to withstand the soft threats posed by them “we should take advantage of academics’ potential.”

Highlighting the role of universities in devising strategies for passive defense, he said, “Before I had taken the post in the committee, just defense and energy ministers were members to the committee, but I proposed that the minister of the science, research and technology be added to the committee to involve research centers in this area.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, he emphasized that the Islamic Revolution has provided the best opportunity for the developments of talents, so no one should remain indifferent towards the fate of the country.

Passive defense includes measures taken to reduce the probability of military attacks on the country and to minimize the effects of damage caused by a hostile action.
