New Year revelers in South start returning to Bangkok, other provinces
HAT YAI, Jan 3 (TNA) -- After enjoying the New Year holidays, revelers have begun returning to Bangkok and other provinces from the deep South to begin work on Monday.
Tickets at Hat Yai junction, bookings by local travellers and tourists caused tickets for 29 trains heading for Bangkok and other provinces to be sold out. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is adding more trains from there to Bangkok to cater to intending passengers.
Tickets at bus stations in Hat Yai were also sold out.
Although the first bus leaves Hat Yai for Bangkok at 3pm Sunday, would-be purchasers are queuing to buy tickets.
Twenty extra coaches have been reserved to make certain that no passenger are stranded in the district.
Tourists from Malaysia and Singapore visiting Hat Yai, a shopping and night life paradise, began packing their bags to ready to return home. Their presence, believed to be the highest in six years, is expected to generate about Bt200 million.
Bus drivers have been warned to drive with extra caution following a heavy downpour in the district on Saturday night. (TNA)
