Iran, Somalia sign cooperation agreements

TEHRAN, Jan. 2 (MNA) – Iran and Somalia have signed agreements on political, economic and cultural cooperation.

The agreements were signed during a meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his visiting Somali counterpart Ahmad Jama Jangali in Tehran on Thursday.

According to the agreements, Tehran and Mogadishu will make efforts to help fight against terrorism and piracy.

Developing health cooperation with Somalia and providing humanitarian aids including drugs to the war-stricken country were also highlighted in the agreements.

The two sides also called for further talks on bilateral, multilateral, and regional and international issues.

The two ministers said they support the measures taken by the African Union to help establish durable peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
