HUGE IMPROVEMENT AND RECONSTRUCTION WORK CARRIED OUT IN AZERBAIJAN IN 2009, PRESIDENT
Baku, January 1 (AzerTAc). “Huge improvement and reconstruction work was done in Azerbaijan in 2009, notwithstanding it was the crisis year,” President Ilham Aliyev said in his New Year message.
“We implemented large-scaled infrastructure projects. New roads were built in Baku and other regions of the country. Highways connecting us with neighboring countries were also constructed. These roads meet the highest standards.”
“We also built a number of electric power stations and improved gas and water supply to Azerbaijan`s regions.”
The President also highlighted achievements in social policy:
“All social programs stipulated in the 2009 state budget were realized. New schools, sport complexes, medical and cultural centers were created across our country. And a targeted social assistance program will be continued.”
The President also said: “Concrete steps were taken to improve living conditions and increase employment of our countrymen who suffered from the Armenian occupation. A large number of new settlements, beautiful houses, multi-storied buildings were built.”
