KAZAKHSTAN TAKES OVER OSCE PRESIDENCY
Baku, January 1 (AzerTAc). Kazakhstan has today officially taken over the chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, OSCE, from Greece.
Kazakhstan is the first Central Asian and former Soviet state to chair the organization.
The country reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the fundamental principles and values of the Organization, to proceed according to the interests of all participating States and to strengthen the role of the OSCE as a significant platform for dialogue contributing to security in the wider Eurasian space
"As OSCE Chair, Kazakhstan will seek to bring closer the positions of participating States both west and east of Vienna, based on the principles of impartiality and balance, and to advance the Organization's role in strengthening security and deepening co-operation in the area from Vancouver to Vladivostok,” said the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Kazakhstan's Secretary of State and Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev.
