CENSUS OF SAKER FALCON TO BE CARRIED OUT
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Mongolia has made a decision to ban saker falcons hunting and trade for a period of two years. In the scope of this action, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism plans to organize a census of saker falcons in 2010 in two rounds.
In the first round, the birds will be counted by an observational method, in the second round they will be counted through using a chip code, according to L.Gansukh, a head of the Ministry.
The migration of saker falcons continues four months a year through territory of Mongolia. As preliminary estimated, some MNT 20 million is required for the census.
