Iran plans to publish books by writers from ECO countries

TEHRAN, Dec. 29 (MNA) -- Iran plans to publish the best selected books by writers from ECO member countries, announced ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) director Hojjatollah Ayyubi.

We intend to publish top books by authors from the region around Iran, said Ayyubi adding that the institute has also come to an agreement with Tehran’s Amir-Kabir Publications.

ECI has established two bookshops in the cities of Khujand and Kulob in Tajikistan, he noted.

“We are also planning to send books to the Persian-speaking countries of Tajikistan and Afghanistan,” he remarked.

“Iran’s SAMT Publications has released a series of books to these countries over the past few years. There were also sessions with the Majlis Library director and we have reached agreements to release other books to these countries.

“Persian-speaking countries are not highly developed in the area of publishing books and are very interested in gaining access to the large number of books published in Iran,” he stated.

This is a great opportunity and we believe releasing books is a significant cultural activity that returns a national benefit, he said.
