PRICES OF ELECTRICITY AND HEATING TO INCREASE

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The Energy Authority made a decision to increase the prices--of electricity by 17.35 percent and of heating by 14.5 percent beginning January 15, 2010.
Main reason to increase the prices is that energy companies are operating at a deficit, the Energy Authority explains. As of the 3rd quarter of 2009, the loss of energy sector totaled MNT 64.4 billion. A step on price increase is also made to have energy companies operate normally.
According to estimation made by the Energy Authority, the price of bread may increase MNT 10.6, one kg of flour by MNT 4.6-5.3 and packed milk by MNT 5.8 due to a rise of electricity and heating prices.
