Iran defeated in 1st football match against Qatar

Doha, Dec 29, IRNA – The National Iranian Football Team yielded to a defeat in its first match against the host team, Qatar, early Monday evening.

In the game played at Doha’s Bin Hamad Sports Stadium, the Iranian team which had resisted till the last minute of the extra time lost by 3-2 at the 4th minute of the game.

Qatar’s Ali Afif and Majed Muhammad scored the first two goals of the game at the 7th and 10th minutes of the first half for Qatar and Majed Muhammad once again scored the winning goal for his team at 90+4th minute.

Iran’s goals were scored by Milad Zanidpour and Ehsan Hajsafi respectively at 38th and 47th minutes of the game.

The Qatari strikers began the game with a shocking begging storm which resulted in two goals in Seyyed Mahdi Rahmati’s net.

It took the Iranian players over ten minutes to regain their self- confidence after receiving two goals, and in the second half they managed to keep the ball under their control and to arrange quite a good number of nice attacks against their rival team’s net.

The white clad Iranian football players at the 38th minute of the game, relying on a good team work at the depth of the rival’s defense line scored its first goal.

Mohammad Nouri shot an excellent ball for Zandpour whose unleashed shot broke the seal of the experienced Qatari goal keeper, Qasem Borhan.

The Iranian national players’ attacks continued till the last minutes of the first half, but the logical defense of the Qatari side urged them to leave for the rest quarter hour between the two halves as the loser of the half.

The second half of the game began with the Iranian team’s attacks that resulted finally in scoring the tie goal on a corner shot and Najsafi’s nice and strong completion shot.

Towards the middle of the second half both teams gained a few chances for scoring the winning goal, but due to the low concentration of both teams’ strikers those chances were all lost.

Towards the end to the additional time of the second half and when everyone was waiting for hearing the ref’s whistle to be blown on the unforgivable mistake by captain Hossein Ka’bi, Qatar scored the winning point, in which Majed Muhammad found an opportunity to have a shot at the Iranian goal keeper, Rahmati in a one to one close encounter.

This third goal also placed Qarar atop the scores chart of the quadrilateral for the moment.

On Sunday North Korea bet Mali one-nil in the framework of the quadrilateral games.

The Iranian National Team’s second game in Qatar Quadrilateral would be played on Wednesday this week against Mali.

Our country’s national team is preparing itself for a game against Singapore in the preliminary round of the 2011 Asian Nations Cup.

The two teams would play the game on January 6th, 2010 at Singapore’s National Stadium.

Our country’s national team is currently the top team having gained 7 points, while Singapore, Thailand, and Jordan have gained the following ranks respectively./end
