Persian Gulf islands inseparable parts of Iran

Tehran, June 10, IRNA - The three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf have been and will remain eternally the inseparable parts of Iran, a senior official at Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday. Reacting to a statement by members of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, the ministry's spokesman, Mohammad Ali Hosseini, strongly criticized the PGCC for issuing such a statement in Jeddah meeting. Hosseini said that the allegations made in the statement about ownership of the three Iranian islands "are legally unfounded and totally dismissed". Hosseini said that the existing "misunderstanding between Iran and the UAE can be solved through mutual talks." He also invited all regional countries to strengthen regional solidarity and promote stability and security in the region. The PGCC members, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar, held talks in Jeddah on Monday.
