AZERI WW II VETERANS CONDEMN US ALLOCATION TO NAGORNO-KARABAKH SEPARATISTS

Baku, 25 December (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani World War II veterans have sent a letter to the United States` Embassy in a protest against the Congress` decision to allocate $8 million to the Nagorno-Karabakh regime.
The veterans say: “We are disappointed by the allocation of the US Congress to the separatist Nagorno-Karabakh regime which keeps 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands under occupation and destroyed material and cultural monuments here.”
They consider that the Congress` decision would strengthen "non-constructive position" of Armenia on peace talks.
"Allocating $8 million to the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh regime is what undermines the international reputation of the United States, which is considered the leading advocate of democracy around the globe," the letter says.
“It contradicts the spirit of strategic partnership between the United States of America and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and can be perceived as support for separatism of the Armenian armed forces in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan,” the authors of the letter say.
