MONGOLIA-S.KOREA CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON RAILWAY COLLABORATION
Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ A consultative meeting of railway sector between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea took place December 23-24 in the Railway Authority of Mongolia.
The meeting brought together representatives of three countries. Mongolia was represented by R.Rash MP; J.Bat-Erdene, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Road, Transportation, Construction and Urban Development, Russia--by V.I.Morozov, an executive director of the "Infrastructure and development" company, and S.Korea--by Lee Byung-suk, a chairman of the Korean National Assembly's Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Committee.
The main agenda was a date of starting railway running in route Tavan tolgoi mineral deposit-Sainshand, center of Dornogobi province.
Many countries have sent investments proposals. Only official proposal was put forward by the Republic of Korea on cooperating with Mongolia in constructing the railway. Our side accepted this official request and emphasized an importance of setting up a working group for investors.
A final decision on whether Mongolia and S.Korea will cooperate in the railway running is expected to be made at a meeting scheduled by the two sides late February of 2010 in Seoul.
