STATE HEAD ADDRESSES DIPLOMATS

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj gave Thursday a speech to the Ambassadors of foreign countries accredited to Mongolia and representatives of international organizations in Ulaanbaatar on the occasion of New Year.
"It gives me a great pleasure to meet you, representing with honor and distinction your countries and international organizations in Mongolia, on this occasion of bidding a farewell to the outgoing year and welcoming the New Year.
The year 2009 marked for Mongolians an auspicious year - a year of election of the Head of State; a year when the Mongolian parliament and Government made important decisions for the country's socio-economic development, and also a year of the 20th Anniversary of Mongolia's Democratic Revolution, which was our people's collective achievement and historic pride," he said.
Mongolians have been successfully accomplishing our development goals and aspirations with generous support and assistance of the friendly countries and international organizations, "which you are representing and which have been supporting Mongolia's democracy and reforms from the start," he went on.
Preserving and strengthening the continuity of Mongolia's foreign policies is one of the priorities of the Head of State of Mongolia, and, within these premises, the outgoing year has been a year of notable success, he said. "I am pleased to note the high-level visits Mongolia hosted and the visits we realized abroad."
"Visit of the President of the Russian Federation Mr Medvedev to Mongolia has advanced Mongolia-Russia relations to a Strategic Partnership. Mongolia and India, world's largest democracy, enjoy a comprehensive partnership, and this was declared during the visit of the Head of State of Mongolia to India past September," he said.
From the high rostrum of the United Nations General Assembly Mongolia reaffirmed the international community of "our relentless commitment to be a constructive participant in world affairs".
"The visit of the UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-Moon to Mongolia made a weighty contribution to expanding Mongolia's multilateral diplomacy. A few days ago, Copenhagen hosted more than 110 world leaders to discuss climate change, an existential threat to the entire humankind. In Copenhagen, Mongolia offered to the world her solutions and manifested her will and capacity to deliver meaningful and tangible contributions to the world's collective combat of climate change. This was the largest congregation in the history of the United Nations Organization, where the world's decision-makers were able to unite our political commitment for the same purpose, therefore, Copenhagen was a success," he said.
"During the days of the Copenhagen Conference, I met with the Heads of State and Government of many of the countries your Excellencies represent in Mongolia. I am pleased to inform you of constructive talks and conversations we held. And I do believe and encourage you to remain dedicated to the cause of translating our talks to reality," he went on.
"Mongolia's State expresses our sincere gratitude to you, the Heads of Diplomatic Missions and Representatives of International Organizations, for your noble service as the bridges to connect my country with the world. I am fully confident that the coming New Year will mark another fruitful year of expanded and enriched cooperation with each and every friendly country and organization you represent.
On behalf of the people of Mongolia I wish you and your families a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Thank you," he said.
