Iran's Khatami denies reports claiming he wrote letter to Leader

TEHRAN, Dec. 24 (MNA) -- Former president Mohammad Khatami has rejected reports claiming that he recently sent a letter to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
At a meeting with university students and graduates in Tehran, Khatami said some people have claimed that he wrote a letter to the Supreme Leader and Ayatollah Khamenei took a certain stance toward what he allegedly wrote.
He said he did not know why certain people spread such lies in society.
No one can prevent officials who love the Islamic system from criticizing incorrect approaches adopted in the country, he added.
Khatami also said the fact that Ayatollah Khamenei issued a condolence message over the death of Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri shows that the system wants Montazeri to be respected.
