AZERI-RUSSIAN INTERPARLIAMENTARY COMMISSION CONVENES IN BAKU

Baku, 23 December (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s capital has hosted the 8th meeting of interparliamentary commission between Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis and the Russian Federal Assembly.
Deputy chair of the Milli Majlis Valeh Alasgarov said: “We will discuss how to develop and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.”
Alasgarov expressed confidence that “the event will contribute to boosting relationship between the two countries”.
Deputy speaker of the Council of Federation of the Russian Federal Assembly Svetlana Orlova underlined that “the meeting is very important for us to deepen the cooperation between our countries.”
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, she noted Russian President Dmitry Medvedev makes great efforts to contribute to settling the dispute.
Orlova stressed Russia regards the conflict must be resolved peacefully and on the basis of principles of international law.
She noted the importance of establishing ties between the two countries` regions.
She also stressed significance of intensifying reciprocal visits and meetings between the two countries` youth organizations.
Then the agenda of the event was approved.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov spoke of the current state and prospects of legislation base between Azerbaijan and Russia.
The event ended with the signing of the protocol.
After the meeting Svetlana Orlova and head of Azerbaijan-Russia Inter-parliamentary Commission`s working group Arif Rahimzade held a press briefing.
Svetlana Orlova said the commission`s Working Group on migration problems had been established at the meeting.
The 9th meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission will be held in Russia.
