AZERI MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS: IN STATISTICS

Baku, 23 December (AzerTAc). About 31,000 candidates are running for a total of 15,682 seats in Azerbaijan as the country`s citizens go to polling stations to vote in municipal elections.
Some 16,755 of the candidates are nominated by political parties, while 14,073 are independent and 147 nominated by initiative groups.
The voting is conducted in 4,813 polling stations in 118 constituencies across the country.
There are 6,108 women candidates.
Some 15,773 candidates are highly educated.
The total number of the electorate across the country is about 4.6 million people.
The election is monitored by nearly 50,000 observers, including 54 international monitors representing 13 organizations and 18 countries.
Media is required no accreditation to watch the voting process.
Throughout the Polling Day, the Central Election Commission will issue five reports to make the information related to the voting available to the public.
Some 500 polling stations are equipped with webcams to ensure transparency during the election. Internet users can watch the voting process online on the Central Election Commission`s websites: www.msk.gov.az, www.cec.gov.az, www.infocenter.gov.az.
Polling stations close at 19.00.
