Farmers get satisfied with organic agriculture

Farmers get satisfied with organic agriculture Vientiane, June 9 (KPL) Farmers pay more attention to organic agriculture productivity, which costs cheaper than that with chemical use. According to a meeting held here last Thursday by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, farmers complain they spend a lot of money on chemical-used agriculture productivity meanwhile their produce is unable to be kept for many days as organic crops and easy to rotten. The aim of the meeting is also to review the implementation of the Organic Fruit and Vegetable Farmers' Group Project at Ban Khoksay in Hadsaifong district, which is supported by the Organic Agriculture Productivity Promotion Project. "Farmers cannot earn income from the production with chemical fertilizer use as much as from organic production," said Head of Cultivation Department, Mr Vilayvanh Phannoulath. In order to promote the organic production of farmers the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in co-operation with relevant sectors has held series of training on such production for farmers in nine districts of Vientiane.
