'Defense cooperation guarantees Persian Gulf countries’ stability'

TEHRAN, Dec. 22 (MNA) -- Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi says that defense cooperation between Persian Gulf countries guarantees the stability of the region.

He made the remarks at a meeting with an Omani military delegation in Tehran on Monday.

The Omani delegation travelled to Iran to attend the eighth session of the Iran-Oman Joint Defense Cooperation Commission.

The commission is tasked with fulfilling the two countries’ potential in the military sphere, Vahidi stated.

He went on to say that the two countries enjoy good relations and should make efforts to expand them.

Vahidi also said Iran’s military might belongs to all regional and Islamic countries and helps maintain regional peace and stability.

The enemies are attempting to give the impression that Iran’s military might is a threat to regional countries, but the fact that Iran is transferring its capabilities to countries in the region proves them wrong, Vahidi added.

“Of course, everyone is aware that the Zionist regime is behind this propaganda and is trying to turn the dispute between Islamic countries and the Zionist regime into a conflict between Islamic countries,” he stated.

The head of the Omani delegation praised Iran’s military capabilities and said Muscat is keen to expand bilateral defense cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
