Iran mulling participation in next confab on Afghanistan in London

Tehran, Dec 22, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast said on Tuesday that Tehran was mulling participating in the upcoming conference to be held in London on the Afghanistan situation.

He did not mention further details about the issue.

The spokesman made the remarks during his weekly press conference.

Asked if the visit to Japan of Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili was to attract Tokyo to replace Moscow in cooperating with Tehran in its peaceful nuclear activities, the spokesman said, Jalili was in Japan to discuss major bilateral, regional and international developments.

He said that Iran had no limits to cooperate with other countries, including Japan, in regards to its peaceful nuclear technology.

He stressed that Tokyo enjoys “good nuclear knowledge.”

Touching upon the crisis in Yemen, Mihman-Parast said the conflict has no military solution.

“Military solution for the Yemeni crisis is neither good nor humanitarian as civilians are the victims of the military attacks in that country,” said the spokesman.

Reiterating Tehran’s repeated regret over the ongoing tragedy in Yemen, Mihman-Parast said the issue should be resolved through “diplomatic talks.”/end
